Got Positivity?
If you are bogged down by negative thoughts, here are seven ways to surround yourself with positivity.
1 - Reframe Your Negative Thoughts
When a negative thought pops up—whether it’s self-doubt, fear, or insecurity—ask yourself: “What’s the opposite of this thought?” For example, if you're thinking, “I’m not good enough,” you can think, “I’ve got this!” Shift your mindset by changing your narrative.
2 - Speak to Yourself Like a Best Friend
Would you ever talk to your best friend the way you talk to yourself? Of course not! So why do we allow critical and limiting beliefs to dominate our internal dialogue? Treat yourself the way you would treat your best friend. Be kind and supportive and brainstorm about how to move forward, instead of dwelling on the negative.
3 - Surround Yourself with People Who Believe in You
Your environment plays a massive role in shaping your mindset. Surround yourself with people who lift you up—friends, family, or mentors. If you lack a strong support system in your immediate circle, there’s no shame in looking elsewhere for inspiration. Seek out positive influencers, authors, or thought leaders who inspire you.
4 - Make it Visible
Create a display or screensaver of the people who believe in you or inspire you. Every time you glance at it, you’ll be reminded that you are loved and supported. Likewise, curate your Instagram or Pinterest feed to reflect your dreams and the kind of energy you want to welcome into your life.
5 - Seek Out Positive Messages
Positivity is contagious, so seek out content that reflects the mindset you want to adopt. Look for books, magazines, documentaries, podcasts, and social media influencers who embody the life you want to live. Follow women who have overcome challenges similar to yours and who are pursuing their dreams fearlessly.
6 - Create a vision board
Fill it with images and quotes that inspire you. As you work toward your goals, you’ll notice your self-esteem rising because you’re actively taking steps to make your vision a reality.
7 - Clean Up Your Feed
We live in a world that bombards us with information—both positive and negative. One way to keep on track is to regularly assess your content. Clean up your social media feed, unfollow accounts that make you feel inadequate, and subscribe to uplifting sources and people that reflect your values and goals. Create a weekly routine like Unfollow Friday, where you spend some time each week unfollowing or removing anything that doesn’t support your growth. This goes beyond social media—check your email subscriptions, the TV shows and movies you watch, and the podcasts you listen to. Every bit of information you consume either feeds your negative mindset or nourishes your growth. Be deliberate in choosing the latter.
Remember, building a positive mindset is a daily practice. It takes time, but the results are worth it. Don’t get discouraged if you slip back into old habits now and then—what’s important is that you’re committed to making progress.
Start small. Start today. You have the power to transform your mindset, your life, and your future. Surround yourself with positivity, reframe your thoughts, and never forget your incredible strength.
