Values & Vision Guide Goals

If you really want to understand yourself better, assess your values.  Review this list of values.  Create a list of your top 10 values, then narrow it down to your top three values.

Then, look at how your spend your time and think about what you want to do more of.  Examine your “Big Rocks,” or priorities for you as you look into the future.  Then Create a Personal Vision Statement.  For example:

Thriving during this next phase of my life means [surrounding myself with these people], [engaging in this activity on a regular basis], and [achieving this goal].

I would say, “Thriving during this next phase of my life means surrounding myself with family and friends who support and inspire me, going to the beach, and achieving career success so I can give back to women’s causes in our community.

Think about what you do every day, who you spend time with, and your social media, for example, to see how they align with your values.  Start to eliminate anything, and honestly, anyone, that makes you feel bad about yourself, and add things and people that make you happy and inspired, and make sure they align with your values and your vision statement.

Know your top 3 values and be clear about your vision statement.  Curate your environment by eliminating what makes you feel bad about yourself and adding what inspires you and makes you happy. Then you will be clear about who you are and what you want, especially as you enter the next phase of your life.
